Police witnesses testify in firearm trial

Three police witnesses testified in the No. 4 Supreme Court on Monday in a trial involving an allegedly illegal firearm and ammunition. Miguel Leslie Alpha Bobb-Blackman, 24, of Spruce Street, The City, has denied having a Ruger .45-calibre semi-automatic pistol without a valid licence and four rounds of ammunition without a valid permit on June 12, 2025. The nine-member jury heard evidence from PC Ricardo Connell of The Barbados Police Service Firearms Department, forensic firearm examiner Station Sergeant David Leslie and forensic scenes-of-crime officer PC Kerry Rochester. Acting Senior State Counsel Paul Prescod and State Counsel Tameisha Sobers are prosecuting, while Bobb-Blackman is represented by defence attorney Shadia Simpson. Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell presides in the case, which continues on Tuesday. (JB)
