Police offer reward after Brit mum, 47, abducted from car in broad daylight after school run in Malawi

A REWARD of £12,800 has been offered by police in Malawi for information on the broad daylight kidnapping of a British mum. Nusrat Jiwa Osman, 47, was abducted by four armed men outside her home on Friday – with local cops now urgently appealing for help. Seconds after she arrived home, a group of men allegedly dragged Nusrat out of the car and escaped in a grey Nissan Dualis, her brother explained. Malawian police are offering a reward of £12,800 for “credible information that directly leads to the successful rescue of the victim and the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the perpetrators”. Cops have also urged people not to speculate on “unverified information that could compromise the ongoing investigation“. Police are reportedly “blitzing” the public with text messages packed with appeals for details. Her husband, Nazil Osman, told local outlet Malawi24: “I don’t know where she is or how she is. My wife is an auditor, and I have no issues with anyone.” According to news outlet AllAfrica, the four suspects were armed when they broke in and seized the Brit. Most read in The Sun Shobi said the horrifying incident has left their family “traumatised”. He told The Sun: “My sister has been missing for five days with no trace or call”. Nusrat, from Leicester, works in Malawi as an auditor and moved to the African country after her husband set up a business there. Asked about the motive for the kidnapping, Shobi said: “There is nothing we can think of”. In a heartbreaking plea to the public, he said: “We just want prayers. “No one knows anything. It’s the only thing that can help us at this stage.” To the abductors, he begged: “She’s a mother of two. Please let her go.” In a chilling twist, Shobi revealed that his sister’s case is the latest in a string of kidnappings in Malawi. “There have been four similar cases” he said. “This is the first time a woman has been abducted.” Describing his sister, Shobi said: “She’s a humble soul and a beautiful person. “She’s involved in various charities, a jolly person, an extrovert… we don’t understand why she was taken”. Police have not yet established a motive for the mystery kidnapping. The UK Foreign Office said that it was aware of reports that a British national had been abducted in Malawi and was in touch with local authorities. Comment now
