See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 15:17 EDT, 18 September 2026 | Updated: 15:27 EDT, 18 September 2026 Police have launched a murder probe after a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death on a residential street lined with million-pound homes in north London.Officers and ambulance crews were called to Lloyd Baker Street, in Clerkenwell, Islington, at around 11.20pm on Wednesday after reports of a knife attack.The victim was rushed to hospital but tragically died on Thursday.His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.Detectives are now hunting for the knifeman, but no arrests have been made as of yet.A number of floral tributes have also been left at the scene by family and friends.Homes on Lloyd Baker Street have been sold for as much as £2.25million in the last year, making it one of the area's more expensive addresses.Police have been handed enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles across three parts of London amid heightened security.A Section 60 order has been authorised to Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton areas between 4pm today and 6am on Saturday. Forensic officers work at the scene on Lloyd Baker Street in Clerkenwell, LondonChief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the local area, said: 'This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life.'You can expect to see additional officers in the area providing visible reassurance and working with partners to keep the public safe.'The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation. If you can help, please come forward.'
