Police charge man with alleged serious assault of two-month old baby

Detectives have charged a 33-year-old man following a prolonged investigation into the assault of a two-month-old baby boy in southern Queensland.Police said the Toowoomba Child Protection Investigation Unit has been investigating the alleged assault since January 2025.The baby boy was taken to Warwick Hospital with life-threatening injuries last year, according to police.After an 18-month investigation, police arrested the 33-year-old man in Harristown on Saturday and charged him with serious child harm offences.The man, who is known to the child, was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, and failing to provide the necessities of life.The man was given bail and is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on September 15.Police investigations into the alleged assault remain ongoing.
