Pokémon Winds and Waves is understandably the subject of a lot of buzz, both because it is the next mainline Pokémon game and the first to exclusively launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. Naturally, this facilitates a lot of rumors, speculation, and even leaks to crawl out of the woodwork and do the rounds online. We've already seen this happen since the game was first announced in February 2026, and it will continue to do so up until it officially launches in 2027. However, we may now have an idea of when, in 2027, the leaks and rumors will stop, and the full game will launch. Alongside all of the Winds and Waves' gameplay leaks, the game's release date has also been revealed, giving fans an idea of just how much longer they'll have to wait to see if Game Freak can finally pull off a next-gen Pokémon experience and deliver all the fixes and tweaks players have been demanding for years. Since the game was first announced, we've already been treated to several key Pokémon Winds and Waves details that explain the kind of Pokémon game we can expect to get. However, one detail fans understandably didn't expect to see so early was the aforementioned release date. Many assumed it would be reserved for a Nintendo Direct, but it appears to have leaked much earlier than Game Freak and Nintendo were likely expecting. According to user BallGuy on X, Pokémon Winds and Waves is set to release in November 2027. The post didn't come with any evidence to back it up beyond BallGuy's past record of leaking Pokémon-related information, so it should absolutely be taken with a grain of salt. Additionally, BallGuy doesn't have the greatest track record as a leaker and has incorrectly guessed in the past, which should add a further dose of salt to your already growing pile. That being said, this doesn't sound entirely unreasonable. In fact, it is highly likely, irrespective of whether BallGuy is guessing or has legitimately confirmed information, that Pokémon Winds and Waves will release in November 2027. Mainline Pokémon games, including both Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet, have almost exclusively launched in November, and Game Freak has already confirmed that it is releasing in 2027, so it seems like a practically guaranteed combination. Additionally, Pokopia's third DLC is set to release in 2027 and will likely drop in either Q1 or Q2, which should help bridge the gap between releases. A more specific release date has yet to be leaked, although according to Pokémon content creator Light on X, it is set to release on November 19, 2027. This seems unlikely, as the 19th would be a Friday, and Nintendo has shifted to releasing its first-party games, including Pokémon, on a Thursday. So, November 18, 2027, may be Pokémon Winds and Waves' release date. If Pokémon Winds and Waves does launch in November 2027, there will have been a year and nine months between announcement and release, which is roughly a year longer than the typical waiting period for Pokémon titles. One can hope that Game Freak is using this time to polish the game and get it into a state that will put to bed the numerous valid criticisms against the series. Of course, Pokémon Winds and Waves could release earlier, but as it stands, it seems highly likely that the next mainline Pokémon game will release in November 2027.
