Pokémon teams up with London Science Museum for new exclusive merch

After having already partnered with the Natural History Museum for a temporary pop-up store at the beginning of the year, The Pokémon Company is running a new event at London’s Science Museum, in conjunction with the European Space Agency, to close out 2026. Starting from Friday, October 2, and running until January 3, a Pokémon Space Trail will be available for all museum attendees. This means it’s included with general admission, so no need to pay extra, but you’ll still need to book in advance. Aside from opening right before World Space Week, it’s shortly before half-term, so it’s an ample opportunity for families to attend. Although Pokémon obsessed adults will no doubt flock to the museum too, as there’ll be an exclusive but limited Pikachu plush toy on sale. There will be other science and space themed merchandise available via the museum’s own shop, but the centrepiece is obviously the plush of Pikachu in an adorable astronaut outfit. The museum’s website warns that you’ll need to book in advance for the shop and there will be purchase limits on the Pikachu plush, no doubt to reduce scalping. As for the Space Trail itself, it promises ‘large-scale installations starring beloved pokémon, each revealing playful connections between the world of Pokémon and real-world space science.’ Don't miss Gaming news! Admission for these night-time sessions aren’t free, though. It’ll set you back at least £82 for a standard ticket and the events are limited to the following dates: Saturday, November 14 Saturday, November 28 Saturday, December 5 There will be an adult only version of the Space Trail as part of the museum’s Lates events too, which will take place after hours and feature bespoke activities. Starting from October 4, Pokémon Go players can take part in special raids at the museum as well. According to developer Niantic’s own website, among the pokémon you’ll be able to encounter is a Pikachu in an astronaut outfit, which has the potential to be a shiny. Latest London news The website also mentions that similar events are taking place at other science museums across Europe, including the Cité de l’espace in France and the Deutsches Museum in Germany. ‘We are thrilled to be working with the European Space Agency and The Pokémon Company International, and hope visitors of all ages enjoy following the Pokémon Space Trail and discovering something unexpected about the universe along the way,’ reads a statement by Libby Jackson, head of space at the Science Museum.
