Mewtwo is getting an absolutely killer new design thanks to an upcoming Sideshow statue collectible release coming later this year, officially revealed at the company's booth at Pokemon XP in August. The statue made its public debut on August 28, the opening day of PokémonXP 2026, where Sideshow showcased it at Booth #606 inside San Francisco's Moscone Center. The event ran from August 28–30 alongside the 2026 Pokémon World Championships and marked the first PokémonXP fan convention of its kind. Sideshow describes its Mewtwo Statue as being based specifically on the Pokémon's iconic animated appearance, giving it a dramatic new interpretation of the look fans have associated with Mewtwo for decades. The piece maintains the character's unmistakable silhouette and classic design while presenting it as a high-end display collectible. Sideshow subsequently shared additional footage from PokémonXP, giving fans who couldn't attend the convention a closer look at the new Mewtwo release. It also continues Sideshow's growing push into premium Pokémon collectibles, as the company's slate already including Charizard, Snorlax, a life-size Eevee and Pikachu, as well as a stunning new Gengar diorama that is up for RSVP now too. For now, however, collectors will have to wai, as Sideshow currently categorizes the Mewtwo Statue as "Coming Soon," with an RSVP page available for fans who want to be notified when preorders officially open. No price, dimensions, edition size, firm preorder date, or expected delivery window have been published yet, though the prototype suggests it's roughly 12–18 inches in height for that particular model. Considering Mewtwo's status as one of the franchise's most recognizable Legendary Pokémon, though, it's an especially fitting addition to Sideshow's expanding lineup, and one that collectors will definitely want to keep on their radar in the coming months.
