According to officials, the five students, who were associated with Maharishi Gurukul Sanskrit Vidyalaya, had entered the tank after a foul smell was noticed inside it.Officials suspect that poisonous gas accumulated inside the tank, causing four students to lose consciousness and die. One student was rescued and rushed to a hospital.The incident triggered panic in the area, with district administration officials reaching the spot after being informed. Mathura District Magistrate CP Singh said the students had entered the 12-foot-deep water tank, apparently after noticing a bad smell, and that four of them died, possibly due to poisonous gas.Singh described the incident as a tragic accident and said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had taken cognisance of the incident and expressed grief.
