PoCL 7.2 Released With Official OpenCL 3.0 Conformance On RISC-V & x86_64 CPUs

The Portable Computing Language project is out today with PoCL 7.2 as this portable, MIT-licensed OpenCL implementation that runs across various CPU architectures as well as targeting other GPUs/hardware with LLVM back-ends. Notable with PoCL 7.2 is bringing official OpenCL 3.0 conformance on x86_64 and RISC-V processors. PoCL 7.2 is now an official OpenCL 3.0 implementation per The Khronos Group standards on RISC-V RV64GC and RVA22+RV1.0 hardware. On the x86_64 side, it was validated with its AVX-512 code paths on an AMD Ryzen 9 9900X (Zen 5) processor. In addition to the official OpenCL 3.0 conformance on RISC-V and x86_64 CPUs, PoCL 7.2 also has support for LLVM 22 with CUDA and Level Zero devices and support for up to LLVM 23 when using the CPU device targets. PoCL 7.2 also supports newer OpenCL extensions of cl_khr_extended_bit_ops, cl_khr_device_uuid, cl_khr_suggested_local_work_size, cl_khr_integer_dot_product, cl_khr_kernel_clock, cl_khr_spirv_linkonce_odr, and cl_khr_spirv_no_integer_wrap_decoration.
