Pneumonia death in jail
PORTLAND, Maine — Two Maine correctional officers, Androscoggin County and 15 others will face a mother’s federal wrongful death lawsuit after her son died of pneumonia caused by untreated pressure ulcers while he was in jail. She plausibly argued the officers knew her son was not receiving constitutionally adequate medical care. The defendants can raise their qualified immunity defense again after discovery.
