PM Modi takes Delhi Metro to SRCC, chats with students on way to centenary event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took an unusual route to Shri Ram College of Commerce on Saturday: the Delhi Metro.Ahead of his address at SRCC’s 100-year celebrations, Modi travelled by Metro, carrying a Metro card and interacting with people on the train. He also spoke to students during the journey, turning what is usually an everyday commute into a rather unusual encounter for those travelling with him.For commuters, it was a familiar Delhi scene with an unfamiliar passenger. Modi stopped to speak with people and students as he made his way to the college, where he is scheduled to address the gathering shortly.FROM THE METRO TO SRCCThe Metro ride came on a day when SRCC is marking a major milestone: 100 years since its establishment. As reported earlier by India Today Digital, Modi is attending the event as the Chief Guest, with Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi also scheduled to be present. The celebrations coincide with National Teachers’ Day.The event brings together current students as well as former principals, faculty members and alumni, giving the centenary celebrations a connection across generations of the college. Modi’s visit also marks his return to SRCC after more than a decade. He had last visited the college in 2013, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.A RETURN, 13 YEARS LATEREarlier this year, Modi had met SRCC’s Governing Body and a college delegation at his residence in April to mark the institution’s centenary.
