PM: Localization key to meeting healthcare sector’s needs

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed that expanding the localization of healthcare-related industries is key to strengthening local production capacity and meeting the healthcare sector’s needs for essential equipment and supplies. He said the diversity of such projects, ranging from the outfitting of medical vehicles to the assembly of dental equipment, reflects the growing investment opportunities in specialized industries and strengthens the Egyptian market’s ability to meet its medical product needs locally. Madbouly made the remarks on Sunday, September 6, 2026, as he inaugurated, accompanied by several officials, two factories operated by Technovision for Industry and Trade within the industrial developer Orascom Industrial Parks. The two facilities specialize in outfitting ambulances, mobile clinics and blood banks, and assembling dental machines and equipment. The inauguration took place during Madbouly’s tour of the Sokhna Industrial Zone, affiliated with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE). He was received by Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and a number of company officials. SCZONE Chairman Mostafa Shaikhon said Technovision’s projects represent a model of specialized manufacturing directly linked to the needs of vital sectors. He said the ambulance outfitting project adds local production capacity in specialized medical vehicles, while the dental equipment assembly project introduces a new industrial activity based on partnerships and the transfer of technical expertise. He added that the projects’ diverse technical partnerships — involving German expertise in medical vehicle outfitting and Egyptian-Chinese cooperation in dental equipment — offer opportunities to develop local industrial capabilities and support SCZONE’s efforts to attract projects capable of expanding production and increasing their local component in the future. Following the unveiling ceremony marking the opening of the first factory, which assembles the rear compartments of ambulances, Madbouly and his accompanying delegation inspected samples of ambulance equipment and heard a briefing from Technovision Chairman Mohamed Khalaf. Khalaf said the factory specializes in outfitting the rear compartments of ambulances, mobile clinics and blood banks. It has investments of $10 million and currently operates on an area of 1,500 square meters across two production halls, with a production capacity of up to 50 ambulances per month, or 600 annually, and employs around 60 workers. He said production is carried out under the supervision of German company WAS, which specializes in ambulance outfitting, in accordance with technical specifications and international quality standards. The project is planned to expand in the future on an additional 8,000-square-meter plot. Madbouly and his delegation then inaugurated the second factory, which assembles dental machines, chairs and equipment, and inspected its various production stages, including base assembly, motor and electrical installation, assembly of service units for dentists and assistants, testing and final-product inspection. Khalaf said the second factory has investments of $6 million and currently operates on an area of 1,000 square meters in a single production hall. It has a production capacity of up to 100 dental chairs per month, or 1,200 annually, and employs around 60 workers. The factory operates through an Egyptian-Chinese partnership with Runyes, a company specializing in the manufacture of dental chairs and sterilization equipment and devices. A 5,000-square-meter plot opposite the factory has been allocated for future expansion, Khalaf said, adding that the next phase will also focus on marketing the factory’s diverse range of products.
