PM discusses with Fujairah officials steps to complete implementation of “Fujairah-Alamein” oil, gas company project

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the attention that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is giving to the establishment of Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas Company, describing it as a promising strategic project whose agreement was recently signed. He noted that completing the procedures for establishing Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas Company and holding its inaugural general assembly meeting at the Al-Hamra Petroleum Port, affiliated with the Western Desert Petroleum Company (WEPCO) in New Alamein, comes within the framework of the firmly rooted strategic relations between Egypt and the UAE. Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Capital with Director of the Fujairah Amiri Diwan Mohammed Saeed al Dhanhani to follow up the procedures and steps required to complete implementation of the project following the establishment of Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas Company. The meeting was attended by Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi. Madbouly stressed the vital importance and the project’s multiple developmental dimensions in the energy sector. He also emphasized the importance of accelerating efforts and intensifying joint work to expedite the establishment of a special free zone under the name “Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas Company” in New Alamein City. The company will engage in the storage and trading of petroleum products and crude oil and enter actual operational phases, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both sides and reflects the depth of the firmly rooted strategic relations between Egypt and the UAE. For his part, Dhanhani thanked Madbouly and his government for their efforts on this matter and particularly to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for its support for the establishment of the company. Dhanhani expressed the keenness of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, to strengthen ties of cooperation with the Egyptian side. He affirmed the commitment to expediting implementation of the project. The meeting reviewed the project’s implementation steps, which come within the framework of supporting and enhancing Egypt’s role as a regional hub for energy trading and handling. The project aims to develop Al-Hamra Port through cooperation and integration with the Fujairah Oil and Gas Corporation. It also includes the transfer of expertise and the application of the latest systems and technologies in use, thereby enhancing the port’s efficiency and bringing it up to international standards. The project will also involve storing crude oil using the storage facilities at Al-Hamra Petroleum Port in New Alamein, maximizing the economic benefits and returns from Egypt’s infrastructure and capitalizing on the port’s unique location and advanced infrastructure to make it a strategic hub for crude oil storage and transportation. For his part, Badawi stressed the importance of the project and the substantial government support provided by both the Egyptian and the UAE sides to ensure the success of this project on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast and to replicate the successful experience of the existing project in the Emirate of Fujairah. Badawi explained that ensuring the success of this major project is a top priority. He affirmed that joint teams from both sides are working in full and continuous coordination to achieve this objective, complete the procedures and steps necessary for implementation and establish a specific timetable for the various stages of execution. He stressed that the ministry would provide all necessary support and overcome any challenges that might arise during implementation.
