After launching with record-breaking viewership and critical acclaim, the Vince Gilligan-created Pluribus season 1 ended in December 2025 with a second season already on the way. Pluribus season 2 was greenlit by Apple TV even before the series premiered, but the writers room didn't commence until after the season 1 finale aired. Nearly a year later, Pluribus season 2 is set to begin filming this week, with star Rhea Seehorn heading to Albuquerque after only having read one script. In an interview with ScreenRant's Brandon Zachary for her upcoming role in Apple TV's Stick season 2, which hits the streaming service on November 4, Rhea Seehorn detailed her reaction to Pluribus season 2, episode 1's script and the high-octane return in store. Seehorn clarified that she only has the first script for season 2, but by page 3, she was already texting Vince Gilligan about the "insane" story: Rhea Seehorn: "I just have the first script. That's all I have, and it's insane. I was texting Vince [Gilligan] about it by page 3. I was like, 'What is happening?'" Owen Wilson: "In a way, I feel like that's telling a lot. I understand that it's insane. You know that, by the first episode, it's not going to be okay!" Rhea Seehorn: "It's insane! 'Let's just ease back in.' Every page, I was like, 'What is happening?' So, I'm excited." Seehorn confirms there won't be a gradual ease back into the complex world of Pluribus when season 2 kicks off, instead kicking off with high momentum to keep the pacing on par with the end of season 1. In the final moments of season 1, episode 9, Seehorn's Pluribus character Carol Sturka was informed that the Others had successfully manipulated the virus to have formerly immune people Join them, and intended to use it on her. In response, Carol has Zosia (Karolina Wydra) procure her an atom bomb and tells fellow immune person Manousos (Carlos-Manuel Vesga) that she'll help him destroy the Others. While Pluribus season 2 is preparing to begin production in the coming days, Apple TV has still yet to confirm an intended release window for the hit sci-fi series' return. Following Rhea Seehorn's Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus season 1 this July, Apple TV's Head of Programming, Matt Cherniss, was hesitant to estimate that season 2 would release during the next Emmys cycle, which comes to a close in May 2027. When asked whether a 2028 release window for Pluribus season 2 sounded "reasonable," Cherniss responded that he "doesn't have a date yet on that one." Filming for Pluribus season 1 ran from approximately February until September 2024, with the series premiering the following fall in November 2025. If the sophomore outing follows the same production start to release timeline, then Pluribus season 2 could premiere as early as late fall 2027 or early winter 2028. While the wait for plot and release details for Pluribus season 2 continues, Rhea Seehorn already has several new projects on her upcoming release slate. The Better Call Saul actor will star in the currently undated films Eleven Days and Running, with her new role alongside Owen Wilson in the cast of Stick season 2 debuting soon on November 4.
