PS Plus has a big August ahead: free games include the day-one release Big Walk, a co-op adventure game by the developers of Untitled Goose Game. Other free games and demos are constantly dropping with no subscription required. But in addition to the three free games coming out next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim an extra freebie. Here's everything you need to know about this upcoming offer, what it includes, and how you can claim it for yourself. Beginning on August 6, PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls PlayStation Plus Pack from the PlayStation Store. This free DLC includes five PlayStation avatars inspired by characters from Marvel Tōkon (Captain America, Storm, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, and Ghost Rider) along with in-game character poses, which can be used on the fighting game's result screen to display your winning characters in a variety of unique poses. These items are fully cosmetic and don't affect anything in-game. You'll need to own a copy of Marvel Tōkon in order to use the pack to the fullest, as the character poses are only usable in-game. But anyone can use the PlayStation avatars — they only affect your public PlayStation Network profile. Marvel Tōkon is a cartoon-style Marvel fighting game by developers Arc System Works (also behind Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Persona 4 Arena, and Granblue Fantasy Versus). It features a roster of Marvel heroes, many with brand-new designs. It's set to be released for PS5 and Windows PC on August 6, the same day this freebie is available via PS Plus, which will give subscribers a chance to start the game in style. This news also comes in the midst of controversy for Sony and PlayStation, who recently announced that the console would stop supporting physical media releases, with disc production set to end in January 2028. A Dutch nonprofit has already filed a lawsuit against Sony, seeking the equivalent of $457 million to compensate affected PlayStation users in the Netherlands. Others claim to have canceled their PlayStation Plus subscriptions as a form of protest against the decision. For those still subscribed to the service, free games are expected on August 4, with this additional freebie to coincide with Marvel Tōkon's release on August 6. Keep an eye out for more PlayStation Plus news as the month rolls on.
