PLAYSTATION Network is down as a major outage leaves thousands of users unable to play. Over 5,000 gamers have complained about the issue with Downdetector, which monitors the status of online services and reports outages in real time. Taking to social media, angry players have said: “Typical. Just finished work and Playstation is down.” Sign up for the Tech newsletter Thank you! While others complained about the service “running for a few seconds” but then it cut out again. Over on X, customers have said they are unable to sign into the online gaming platform. “Players around the world are reporting they can’t sign in, play online, access the PlayStation Store, or use other PSN features,” another angry user said. It comes after the brand, which is owned by Sony, confirmed that all new PlayStation games will be released in digital format only from January 2028. The tech giant is the first major console brand to ditch physical copies entirely. At the time, Sony insisted the move reflected how players already buy their games, with roughly 80% of PlayStation game sales now digital.
