Kingdom Hearts 4 Is The First Game In The Series To Benefit From PS5 Pro Published Sep 16, 2026, 9:30 AM EDT George is the Lead News Editor for TheGamer, and has been working in the industry since 2021 after graduating from the University of South Wales with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. Some of the games George has extensively covered first-hand include Dead Rising, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ninja Gaiden 4. The official PlayStation Store listing for Kingdom Hearts 4 has confirmed once and for all that it’ll be PS5 Pro Enhanced, likely making it the best console to play on. It’s a little wild to consider that, thanks to how long it’s taken to develop, Kingdom Hearts 4 will be the first game in the whole series to release on this current console generation. In fact, with the PS6 and Project Helix on the distant horizon (despite everyone preferring they weren't), it’s very likely to be the only Kingdom Hearts game for the current generation. With that sobering thought in mind, Kingdom Hearts 4 looks primed to push the series further than it ever has before, which we’ve already seen glimpses of in the recent trailers. If you want to experience Kingdom Hearts 4 at its very best, then you might want to make sure you have a PS5 Pro, as PlayStation has recently confirmed that it’ll be enhanced. Kingdom Hearts 4 Listing Confirms PS5 Pro Enhancements As Ever, We Don’t Really Know What That Means Yet As pointed out by Twitter user Genki_JPN, the official PlayStation Store listing for Kingdom Hearts 4 was recently updated to include the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” tag. As the name suggests, this means that the game will benefit from being played on a PlayStation 5 Pro, similarly to games like GTA 6, Marvel’s Wolverine, and many more. While this isn’t too much of a surprise considering Kingdom Hearts 4 is being released so far into this generation’s life cycle, it is nice to have it confirmed well before the game’s launch in late 2027. Of course, we don’t yet know what those enhancements might end up being, but there are some safe bets for what to expect. PS5 Pro Enhanced usually means that a game’s performance or visual fidelity has been improved in some ways. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, one of the more recent Square Enix releases, was also PS5 Pro Enhanced, and it aimed for a more stable framerate, clearer visuals, and higher-quality textures. We don’t currently know what sort of framerate Kingdom Hearts 4 is targeting, but the PS5 Pro Enhanced tag does at least mean it’ll likely be 60fps on that console if nothing else. Again, it’s not wholly surprising to hear, considering how long Kingdom Hearts 4 has been in the works, but it does make me feel a little better about having a Pro.
