Marinaccio is 1-0 with a 4.79 ERA in 33 appearances this season. He struck out 38 in 47 innings but served up nine homers. The Padres designated him for assignment on Sunday. Marinaccio, 31, is 7-5 with a 3.50 ERA in 172 1/3 innings over 141 career appearances with the New York Yankees (2022-24) and Padres (2025-26). The Pirates designated right-hander Dennis Santana for assignment to open up spots on the active and 40-man rosters. Santana, 30, is 2-5 with two saves and a 6.05 ERA in 41 2/3 innings over 44 relief appearances this season. Over nine big league seasons, Santana is 17-25 with 22 saves and a 4.37 ERA in 319 appearances (one start) with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2018-21), Texas Rangers (2021-22), New York Mets (2023), Yankees (2024) and Pirates (2024-26). --Field Level Media
