Pirates’ Konnor Griffin draws honest truth bomb from Paul Skenes

Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes continues to perform at an elite level, and he has more help this season. MLB's top prospect Konnor Griffin was promoted to the big leagues earlier in the year. Griffin has played well, and it looks like he could become a superstar someday. Skenes recently commented on Griffin on The Pat McAfee Show, as the Pirates star responded to McAfee saying Griffin talks like he is a 90-year-old man.“You said it, he sounds like a 90-year-old man,” Skenes said of Griffin. “I wouldn't go that far, but he's definitely mature. He's been mature ever since he was 19. Like everybody, you go through some growing pains when you get into the big leagues, whatever that looks like. So I think he's learned a lot. He came up after our sixth game I think, so he's been up pretty much all year.“Feels like he's been around the league much longer than that… Obviously he's doing well, playing well. Great guy to have behind you defensively. Great guy to have in the lineup, clubhouse. He's one of the guys.”Griffin, who made his MLB debut at 19 years old before recently turning 20, is hitting .255/.316/.394 to go along with three home runs and 10 stolen bases. The shortstop has performed better in recent weeks following a slow start to the '26 campaign.The Pirates believe in Griffin.
