Pinarayi Vijayan condemns police protection for ‘RSS event’ at Central University of Kerala

Keralam Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan says the United Democratic Front government’s cooperation with the “Sangh Parivar conspiracy” to saffronise higher educational institutions and implement communal agendas on campuses has become a regular occurrence in the State. Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly condemned the Kerala Police’s decision to provide protection for an alleged Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) programme at the Central University of Kerala in Kasaragod on Tuesday (October 6, 2026).In a Facebook post, Mr. Vijayan accused the Congres-led government of backing the national seminar on ‘Vande Mataram,’ despite protests from almost all student organisations other than those affiliated with the Sangh Parivar. He alleged that the United Democratic Front (UDF) government’s cooperation with the “Sangh Parivar conspiracy” to saffronise higher educational institutions and implement communal agendas on campuses had become a regular occurrence in the State.Questioning the university’s claim that the event was an academic programme, Mr. Vijayan asked what justification the university had to offer for inviting an RSS leader without an academic background to the event. He added that several students, who had registered in advance for the programme, were prevented from entering the hall and were made to remain outside. Published - October 06, 2026 08:40 pm IST
