Phantom Blade Zero Physical PS5 Release And Deluxe Edition Releasing 2027

Phantom Blade Zero Will Get A Physical Release On PS5, But You'll Have To Wait For It S-Game Published Oct 22, 2026, 5:35 AM EDT Josh Coulson is an editor at TheGamer covering breaking news on everything from colorful platformers to the latest Lego sets. Primarily a news writer since 2018, Josh has covered just about every major game from the past decade. Now an editor, their focus has shifted to being the leading affiliate expert at the site, building relationships between TheGamer and global brands including Mattel, Funko, and The Pokemon Company. We are exactly one week away from the launch of Phantom Blade Zero, the highly anticipated action RPG from S-Game. Phantom Blade Zero is a digital-only release, but it has now been confirmed that this will not be the case forever, with the studio behind it confirming future physical release details. S-Game confirmed the good news about Phantom Blade Zero’s physical version while sharing the launch trailer for the game, which you can watch below. The bad news is you can’t pre-order a physical copy of the game right now, nor will you be able to hold it in your hands when Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29. In fact, the physical version of S-Game’s next title doesn’t have a release date at all - just a vague 2027 release window. A window it will have to hit, as starting from January 2028, putting PS5 games on discs won’t be an option. While we don’t have an exact date or price details, it has been confirmed that when Phantom Blade Zero’s physical version is released, there will be three options - standard, deluxe, and ultimate. The deluxe edition will presumably include the same extras that the digital equivalent comes with, so a couple of exclusive outfits and access to he game’s digital artbook and soundtrack. S-Game All we know about the ultimate edition for now is that your copy of the game will come with a Steelbook adorned in some pretty stunning Phantom Blade Zero artwork. Oh, and the single official image S-Game has shared of the game’s physical editions includes the disc, just so people know this isn’t going to be a code-in-box situation. One Of The Final Physical Releases On PS5 Image via S-GAME That will be the case for all physical PS5 releases in a little over a year from now should PlayStation stick to its controversial decision to cease disc production. Phantom Blade Zero, along with God of War Laufey, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, and any other big games that make it out before 2028, will be among the last to ever be put into a PlayStation disc. Truly the end of an era. Rather ironically, an era that PlayStation spearheaded when it launched its original console more than 30 years ago. Phantom Blade Zero’s delayed physical release is the perfect example of why scrapping discs entirely is a bad idea. Sure, the bulk of PS5 users now buy their games digitally, but like Blu-rays, CDs, and vinyl, there will always be an audience for physical games. In Phantom Blade Zero’s case, it will mostly be people who love the game and, despite already owning it digitally, also want a physical copy a few months later. That sort of staggered release, and perhaps even charging slightly more for a physical copy as Nintendo does, would be preferable to ditching discs entirely, but PlayStation doesn’t seem interested.
