Pete Golding reveals pitch to keep Trinidad Chambliss, Kewan Lacy: ‘Google Lane Kiffin’

Pete Golding was very honest about how he actually kept Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy, the start QB-RB tandem, at Ole Miss. It was all about former coach Lane Kiffin. It was all about building a legacy at Ole Miss, rather than follow Kiffin to LSU or wherever else via the transfer portal. Apparently, that was enough for Chambliss, a sixth year QB, and Lacy, one of the SEC’s best at his position, to stay in Oxford. $19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage “Football’s gonna end,” Golding said, via ESPN’s David Hale. “What are you going to use? You gotta use an alumni base to be able to get you a job. Where are you gonna bring your kids to? What jersey are they wearing? Y’all two created a legacy in one season that’s gonna be hard for anybody to overtake, and for what’s going on now, for Coach Kiffin to leave — go Google Lane Kiffin. “I had them both do it in my office. Google Lane Kiffin, the dude they’d have built a statue of here three days ago. Google his name right now. They wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire. They’ll do the same thing to yall to [if you leave]. But if you come out and say I’m going to continue to build on the legacy I’ve created, what that’s going to do for you and this fan base and the alumni for the rest of your life, I don’t give a shit where you go or what they pay you, you’ll never amount to that much.” It was a pretty blunt assessment of the situation from Golding’s perspective. It’s no secret that Chambliss and Kiffin were linked, specifically, when the coach took a new job in Baton Rouge. “Like I said, like I guess so,” Chambliss said if LSU was a possibility back in January during the CFP. “But you know, at the end of the day, I just made the right decision, and that was, you know, to stick with my gut. And you know, Ole Miss has been good to me, and I feel like I owe it to Ole Miss. And you know, I just love it here, and I love the community, so that was, you know, the right choice.”
