Perth police officer pleads guilty to assaulting his five-week-old baby

September 17, 2026 — 1:14pmA WA Police officer has been stood down and arrested over the assault of his five-week-old baby.Nickolas Wayne Peake, 30, faced Midland Magistrates Court on Thursday after he was charged with aggravated common assault.Former WA Police officer Nickolas Wayne Peake charged with assaulting his five-week-old baby.FacebookHe pleaded guilty to the charge at the first hearing.The incident occurred in the eastern Perth suburb of Stratton on Saturday.Peake appeared in person on Thursday, where the court was told there were protective conditions in place for his wife and child since the incident, and that he was now living with his parents in South Yunderup.The 30-year-old is taking part in counselling, the court was told.In a statement, WA Police said Peake was charged on Sunday by the child abuse squad after his five-week-old baby was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital “as a precaution”.The force confirmed he had been stood down as a police officer.Peake will be back before the court on October 13 for sentencing.
