Sign in to your TheGamer account We know that there's going to be a Persona 6, and that the next game's color theme will be green, but other than that, we don't know much at all about what Sega and Atlus have planned for the next game in the series. We don't even have a release window, although a footnote spotted on Sega's bare-bones Persona 6 page may have given the game away. Persona 6 Will Only Release Physically On PS5 On the page, under the listed platforms on which Persona 6 will launch, Sega includes a note that reads, "Only physical copies of the PlayStation 5 version are available." Unsurprising that the PC version of Persona 6 will be digital-only, but surprising that there won't be a physical edition on Xbox since, even though it has never been exclusive, there has been a relationship between the series and the platform in recent years. The page went live on June 8, 2026. However, it's unclear if that footnote has been there the entire time, or if Sega added it more recently. Either way, Persona fans didn't pick up on it until now. That's why it has caused a stir on the PS5 subreddit this morning. If Persona 6 is getting a physical release, then the assumption is that the next new entry in the Persona series is now confirmed to be here before the end of 2027, since PlayStation is pushing forward with its plans to stop releasing games on discs from 2028. Does This Mean Persona 6 Will Be Here Before 2028? 2028 might still feel like a long way off, but considering how little we've seen of Persona 6 - little more than its logo at this stage - it isn't a wild assumption to make that the game is still two years away. Especially when there's still Persona 4 Revival to come, which will launch on February 17 and fill the 2027 window for the series. As positive a sign as this is for Persona 6 potentially releasing before 2028, it is far from confirmation. Even though there will no longer be physical PS5 releases from 2028, there will still technically be physical games. Those games will just be codes in boxes rather than discs. Until Sega explicitly says Persona 6 will be on a disc, there's no guarantee its physical release will be anything more than a code in a box. Persona 6 could end up getting pushed into 2028, too, even if Sega internally has it penciled in for 2027 right now. Sega has already implied that it still plans on releasing its games physically on PS5 even after PlayStation stops putting games on discs. Sega president Shuji Utsumi suggested as much shortly after PlayStation's controversial announcement.
