Person in custody after man seriously injured, covered in blood in mall altercation

A person is in police custody after a man was seen bleeding in a mall carpark following an altercation on Thursday.A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they were called to West Auckland's LynnMall shortly after 11am and found a person with serious injuries.The person has been taken to Auckland Hospital.A woman who works in a bar at the mall said she saw a man bleeding in the carpark, and was told by security that he was stabbed.The woman said the man looked like he was in his 30s.A security guard told her the man was stabbed in the neck, she said."It's crazy that people can do that in broad daylight," she said.The New Zealand Herald is reporting that a man was seen covered in blood and screams were heard.Waitematā West Area Commander inspector Simon Walker said one person was in custody following the incident.He said officers were called to the parking area off Great North Road at 11.10am after two parties had an altercation.Walker said it was isolated event and there was no risk to the wider public.
