People: Georgia’s Walker Named President of National Benefits and Insurance Group

Mychal Walker, owner of an insurance agency in Duluth, Georgia, has been named president of the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals. He succeeds Susan Rider. Walker Walker is president of The Walker Agency, a retirement planning firm, and is owner of CC and Associates, a benefits firm for small employer groups, according to BenefitsPRO and the agency’s website. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and is past president of the Georgia Association of Health Underwriters. He recently served as secretary and as treasurer for NABIP. Walker’s appointment comes at what may be a turbulent time for the 100,000-member NABIP. Early this year, the association asked its CEO, Jessica Brooks Woods, to step down after what officials said were significant challenges and several board member resignations, BenefitsPRO reported.
