Peak Has Been Rated On PS5, Console Release Likely Imminent

Sign in to your TheGamer account Peak unexpectedly took the world by storm when it launched last year, but there was one big problem. A problem that people often face when it comes to low-budget indie games - it was only available on PC. Aggro Crab promised to change that but didn’t give a timeframe. Now the game has been rated for PS5, we have our strongest indicator yet that Peak’s console port is almost here. Spotted and shared by Wario64, a PS5 version of Peak was recently rated by the ESRB, the ratings board that handles age classification for games in North America. Nothing of note in the description since it will presumably be the exact same game that’s been available on PC for the past year. It’s the fact that Peak has been rated at all which makes its PS5 appearance on the ESRB website notable. It varies, but games don’t tend to get a rating until they are more or less ready to be released. The game getting rated needs to be as close to the one people are going to play, hence why the rating is usually left until the development is basically done. Peak has been on PC for so long that the game has already received its final update. It was when that final update rolled out that the team behind the hit indie confirmed that, when Peak eventually climbs onto consoles, it will have cross-platform support. That means if you’re going to be a Peak newbie when it comes to PS5, like me, you can pair up with PC veterans who can guide you up the game’s various mountains. Or, if you’re a PC player, you’re about to get an influx of console players you can mess with, as they won’t see any of the usual tricks coming. Banana peels at the ready. Peak Will Almost Certainly Be Available Everywhere Eventually Peak will presumably launch on other consoles too, even though the recently discovered ESRB rating only mentions a PS5 port. Putting this game on Switch 2 feels like a no-brainer. More recent viral hit Meccha Chameleon managed to bridge that gap much faster and has almost certainly enjoyed renewed success on the Nintendo platform. It may have been a quicker process due to only coming to Switch 2, whereas Peak will almost certainly target a simultaneous release across all consoles. The other reason it has taken Peak so long to get ported to other platforms is that the team behind it wasn’t expecting this much success. Peak was supposed to be a small side project between games. Instead, it has become the biggest thing Aggro Crab has ever been a part of. It has sold millions, and it’s about to get a new lease on life when it comes to consoles.
