Peacock Greenlights Three-Part ‘Wendy Williams Show’ Documentary

Skip to main content Home TV TV News ‘Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show’ is positioned as both a celebratory look at the syndicated talk show, which ended in 2022, and a cautionary tale about celebrity. Wendy Williams Peacock is preparing to celebrate the cultural influence of The Wendy Williams Show and to interrogate the role of fame in its end. The streamer announced on Monday that it has greenlit a three-part documentary with the working title Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show. Set to premiere in 2027, the film focuses on the rise and fall of the syndicated daytime talk show, distributed by Debmar-Mercury between 2008 and 2022, when the show wrapped as host Williams fought health issues. According to Peacock, the film not only commemorates the show‘s achievement but also “sheds light on the complicated truths about the cost of fame and answers long-lingering questions surrounding [Williams‘] infamous exit from her own show.“ The film is being executive produced by Suzanne Bass, who served in the same role on The Wendy Williams Show for 13 seasons. The project is also set to feature more than 20 staffers from the talk show speaking about their time on the program. Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show is also being executive produced by Ian Orefice, Jon Adler, Amanda Spain and Missy Walker for EverWonder Studio as well as Chris Witherspoon and Vanessa Golembewski. The project follows a separate documentary on Williams, titled Where Is Wendy Williams?, which aired on Lifetime in 2024. The film, which documented Williams‘ health issues following the cancellation of her show, sparked a lawsuit from Williams‘ court-ordered guardian in an attempt to block the film‘s release.
