Through the new MCP Connector, businesses can connect their Paytm Payment Gateway account with Claude and access authorised payment information through a conversational interface.What can businesses do with Claude and PaytmThe integration allows merchants to use Claude to look up a range of payment-related information. This includes transactions, payment links, refunds, settlements, subscriptions, order status and reconciliation details.For example, instead of manually searching through a payment dashboard to check whether a customer’s refund has been processed, a business could use an AI prompt to look up the relevant information. Similarly, finance teams can use the integration to check settlement and reconciliation details. The idea is to reduce the need to move between different dashboard pages, reports and API calls for routine payment-related checks.How does the MCP integration workThe integration is built around Model Context Protocol, or MCP, a standard that allows AI applications such as Claude to securely connect with external services and access information they are authorised to use. In this case, businesses can connect their Paytm Payment Gateway account with Claude through secure authentication. Once connected, Claude can access relevant payment information from Paytm based on the permissions given by the merchant.This could be particularly useful for developers and businesses that are building AI-powered workflows around payments, finance and commerce.Paytm says businesses will remain in control of the access given to Claude.
