Paytm Payment Gateway has integrated with Anthropic's Claude through MCP, allowing businesses to access payment information using AI prompts. Merchants can check transactions, refunds, settlements and reconciliation details without repeatedly switching between dashboards.Paytm Payment Gateway is now integrated with Anthropic’s ClaudePaytm has integrated its Payment Gateway with Anthropic’s Claude through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This allows businesses to access important payment information using simple AI prompts. The integration means merchants can check transactions, track refunds, view settlement details and reconcile payments without repeatedly switching between dashboards or relying directly on APIs.The integration has been announced by Paytm Payments Services Limited (PPSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of One 97 Communications. Through the new MCP Connector, businesses can connect their Paytm Payment Gateway account with Claude and access authorised payment information through a conversational interface. What can businesses do with Claude and PaytmThe integration allows merchants to use Claude to look up a range of payment-related information. This includes transactions, payment links, refunds, settlements, subscriptions, order status and reconciliation details. For example, instead of manually searching through a payment dashboard to check whether a customer’s refund has been processed, a business could use an AI prompt to look up the relevant information. Similarly, finance teams can use the integration to check settlement and reconciliation details. The idea is to reduce the need to move between different dashboard pages, reports and API calls for routine payment-related checks. How does the MCP integration workThe integration is built around Model Context Protocol, or MCP, a standard that allows AI applications such as Claude to securely connect with external services and access information they are authorised to use. In this case, businesses can connect their Paytm Payment Gateway account with Claude through secure authentication. Once connected, Claude can access relevant payment information from Paytm based on the permissions given by the merchant. This could be particularly useful for developers and businesses that are building AI-powered workflows around payments, finance and commerce.Paytm says businesses will remain in control of the access given to Claude. Payment information will only be shared through authorised permissions, while activities such as payment execution, refunds and settlements will continue to be handled through Paytm Payments Services' existing infrastructure. The company says the integration is aimed at helping entrepreneurs, developers and business teams get faster access to payment information while keeping merchant-controlled access and security in place. With businesses increasingly using AI for finance, customer support and other routine tasks, Paytm says the integration is part of its broader push to build AI-enabled payment infrastructure for businesses, MSMEs, enterprises and developers.- EndsPublished On: Aug 10, 2026 17:10 IST
