Nearly a year after “One Battle After Another” hit theaters en route to a dominant night at the Oscars, Paul Thomas Anderson has lined up his next project. The auteur directs the new concert film “Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall,” which captures a historic, intimate performance by the Geese frontman in New York City last December. A 35mm film print will hit theaters this fall via a roadshow release from Criterion and Janus Films. While this is the first time that the project has been formally announced, news of Anderson directing a film of the sold-out concert should not be particularly surprising to Geese fans. When Winter played Carnegie Hall in December 2025, after a massive Geese tour, many attendees noted Anderson and Benny Safdie on stage with cameras, suggesting a film project was in the works. Safdie has also been confirmed as an executive producer on the new film alongside Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman and Maggie Ambrose. The concert saw Winter primarily playing material from his first two solo albums, “Singles” and “Heavy Metal.” Many attendees praised the performance for demonstrating a more intimate side of Winter’s musicality than his lively Geese concerts allow him to showcase. The film will be accompanied by the previously announced release of a live album of the same name. A partial list of screening dates and venues is below, with more to be announced later.
