Paul Scholes calls out three Man Utd stars for Hull embarrassment as he tells Bruno Fernandes ‘keep your mouth shut’

PAUL SCHOLES has slammed a number of Manchester United stars following the club’s embarrassing opening weekend defeat to Hull. The Red Devils were stunned by two set-piece goals from the newly promoted outfit – the first time they have ever lost to a promoted side on opening day. He said: “Same mistakes as we did last season, every away game we give too much of the ball to them. Against these types of teams, they are waiting for that moment.” But Scholes was none too impressed by the skipper’s comments, and slammed Fernandes and another United star for their own part in the shocking result. Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football, sponsored by Midnite, Scholes said of the comments: “I’d be interested to know what (Fernandes) means by that. What mistakes were they giving set-piece goals away? “Especially when you perform the way he did as well, I think it’s probably best to keep your mouth shut, because he didn’t have his best performance either, and there was quite a few of them like that. Paddy McGuinness chimed in to add: “Luke Shaw said they could have been better prepared as well.” To which Scholes responded: “Luke Shaw always says something. He and co-host Dion Dublin were perplexed by Harry Maguire‘s role in Hull’s first goal. The England international appeared to mark Noussair Mazraoui rather than an opposition player in the box, allowing Semi Ajayi to pounce on a rebound which either man could possibly have cleared if they were not in each other’s way. Scholes said: “I think he’s (Maguire) just lost his bearings or something, I don’t know. I don’t think he’s looking at the players, he’s looking at the ball, isn’t he? “The only thing I can think is that he’s lost his bearings and he’s looking at the ball and he could feel somebody in front of him, and he’s just gone like that (hugged him).” Dublin added: “It’s an odd one because if he hadn’t had that instinct, then he might have been able to stop the goal or kick the ball away, but he just sort of froze and looked and he’s hugging his mate and he’s gone, ‘They’re gonna score in a minute!'” Scholes even called for Maguire to break down the moment himself, adding: “It doesn’t look good, does it?
