Sunday evening’s Alaska Airlines flight 305 from from Miami to Seattle on August 9, 2026 pushed back and then minutes later returned to the gate under a lockdown protocol after passenger threats being made to flight attendants and at least one customer threatening to take over the aircraft. The pilots stopped the departure, returned to their gate E6, and law enforcement met the Boeing 737-800. Alaska 305: The flight attendants have received threats from customers on board the aircraft. Air traffic control: Okay, uh, do you need us to contact law enforcement?” Alaska 305: “Absolutely.” Alaska 305: “The captain’s on the phone, um. Again, last we heard from the flight attendants is we had a customer threat to take the aircraft over.” Multiple passengers are threatening the flight attendants aboard Alaska Airlines flight 305 in Miami this evening and they’re going back to the gate to meet law-enforcement. It arrived at gate E6 around 5:20 p.m. It was scheduled to turn around back to Miami at 6:20 p.m. and pushed back at 6:29 p.m. Threats were heard shortly after this, and the plane was back at the gate at 6:47 p.m. Eastern time. The cockpit door couldn’t be opened until the threat was gone from the aircraft. The flight still appears scheduled to depart this evening. There are several social media comments noting that flight 305 was also the D.B. Cooper flight on Northwest Orient, the hijacker who on November 24, 1971 obtained a $200,000 ransom and four parachutes and was never seen again. That’s obviously pure coincidence. This doesn’t even count as air piracy because the would require actual seizure or control of the aircraft, or at least a demonstrable attempt, using force, threats or intimidation – and not just a reported threat.
