Passenger Leaves Bag Containing Rs 25,000 On Train In Jammu, Staff Returns It

Jammu: It could have been a story of loss and despair for a passenger who left his bag behind at Katra station. But it turned into a story of honesty and hope, as Jammu Division's railway staff went the extra mile to return his cash and documents intact.An on-duty ticket checking staff ensured the safe return of a passenger's bag containing cash and valuable documents on August 21 after he received information about the same.The incident happened in train number 26402. The control room alerted railway staff that a bag had been left behind on seat numbers 6, 7 and 8 in coach C-11 by a passenger who had already deboarded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.Showing exemplary alertness, TTE Dinesh Kumar immediately rushed to the coach and secured the unattended bag. Using his Hand Held Terminal (HHT), he traced the passenger's contact details and informed him. The passenger confirmed the bag contained cash and important documents.On verification, the bag was found to contain Rs 24,980 in cash along with Aadhaar card, identity card and driving licence - all safe and intact. As per protocol, the bag was handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for return to its rightful owner after due verification.Overwhelmed after getting his belongings back, the passenger expressed heartfelt gratitude to Jammu Division and its staff.Applauding the gesture, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, said, "The honesty, promptness and dedication displayed by our staff is highly commendable. Jammu Division is committed to the safety of passengers and their belongings.
