NewsUS News A MAN jumped overboard from a cruise ship while on holiday with his family sparking a frantic search and rescue. The passenger, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, vanished after he leapt off the ship bound for California from Mexico on Saturday. The Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement: “Carnival Cruise Line confirmed Saturday that a male guest aboard Carnival Panorama jumped overboard while the ship was sailing from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to Long Beach, California. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! “When notified of the missing guest, the ship’s team initiated search and investigation procedures, including reviewing CCTV footage and notifying both the US and Mexico Coast Guards.” Another passenger on the ship told TMZ that the man was travelling with family with relatives initiating the search before contacting guest services. An announcement that a man was missing from the ship was made at around 11am on Saturday, with repeated calls for the passenger’s whereabouts made over the next few hours. The ship reversed its course reportedly around 3pm to try and find him in the waters. However, it eventually resumed its journey towards Long Beach at around 4.30pm. Most read in The Sun They said: “We have yet to locate the missing guest. “Our fleet operation in Miami and appropriate authorities have been notified. “In the meantime, we continue for the family and friends. “Our search efforts continue and we will keep you informed. “Thank you for the co-operation.” Fellow passenger Misty Hernandez shared a Facebook video of cruisers putting a small memorial for the man, lauded with handwritten messages, items such as rubber ducks, teddy bears, and prayers for his family and friends. She added that the memorial was a way to support his family while the cruise continued its long passage to Long Beach. The missing passenger’s status remains unknown as of Sunday, and circumstances around his disappearance is still under investigation. Comment now
