Paralives August Patch Redesigns Ugly Babies

For many players, it was the Sims rival they were looking for, even if a few quirks are holding it back right now. One of those quirks is the character models. Admittedly, these are very stylised, so they were always going to take some getting used to. And at this point, I think many of us have come around to them - with the exception of the baby character models. They just look… well… you be the judge. The good news is that the Paralives devs are completely aware of this, and now, they’re working on some improvements. These new baby character models have just been unveiled, ahead of Paralives’ next patch on August 10. RIP Paralives Babies, We Hardly Knew Ye As you can see in the before and after, Paralives babies are looking a little more like babies now. Rather than getting shrunk-down adult faces, the proportions have been fixed to give them adorably chubby cheeks and wider features. In the replies, the old baby models are compared to both Bobby from King of the Hill, and medieval depictions of babies. Both are quite accurate, to be honest. But as amusing as that is, it doesn’t seem that anyone is going to miss the old babies once they're gone. If you do, I am sure someone will mod them back in, but I think the rest of us will move on. The redesign will be rolled out on August 10, when the next Paralives patch is set to drop. As with all post-launch updates, this patch will be free for anyone who has the game already. The devs have doubled down on that business model since launch, saying that the base game’s sales are enough to sustain it. Paralives is still in early access, so we can expect smaller updates like this for a while. The big ol’ expansions are on the way, though, according to the devs, and won’t be sold at a premium like they are with The Sims 4.
