The Panthers are adding a veteran linebacker at the same time as they are cutting their roster down to 53 players. According to multiple reports, they have agreed to terms with Bobby Okereke. Okereke was released by the Giants in March. Okereke started all 46 games he played over three seasons with the NFC East club and had 385 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. He moved to the Giants after spending four seasons with the Colts. The Panthers have not made the signing official yet, but they did announce that they have waived defensive tackle Kyon Barrs, wide receiver Elijah Cooks, running back Miles Davis, offensive tackle tackle Ryan Hayes, defensive tackle Tywone Malone, tight end Caden Prieskorn, and wide receiver Roc Taylor. They also released wide receiver Dan Chisena off of injured reserve.
