Palghar felt two tremors of magnitude 3.4 in an hour

Maharashtra’s Palghar felt two back-to-back tremors of magnitude 3.4 in a span of an hour, raising concerns among the citizens, the district officials said on Tuesday (August 11, 2026). Palghar is located 100 km from Mumbai. Both tremors occurred on Monday night (August 10). The first one was recorded at 10:04 p.m., and the second at 11:00 p.m., according to data from the National Centre for Seismology. District Disaster Management Cell chief Vivekanand Kadam said, “The seismic activity occurred at a depth of 5 km in the Jawhar taluka of Palghar district.”This is the second episode that has happened in two months. Last month, Palghar felt three tremors. “We are monitoring the changes.
