The talks were held during Munir's one-day visit to Tehran as part of Islamabad's "diplomatic efforts to end the deadlock in US-Iran talks and explore ways to achieve lasting peace and a permanent end to instability in the region.", IRNA reported. Prominent Iranian figures that participated in the discussions included Masoud Pezhakian, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Mohsen Rezaee, Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Eskandar Momeni.
