Pak singer Mustafa Zahid to reprise Tera Mera Rishta for Awarapan 2?

Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid, who sang the much-loved Tera Mera Rishta from Emraan Hashmi’s 2007 film Awarapan, is reportedly in talks with the makers of Awarapan 2 to record a reprised version of the iconic track. If the discussions materialise, the singer could return to the song that became one of the most memorable parts of the original film.According to a report by Mid-Day, Zahid is in talks with producers Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Bhatt, with a recording potentially taking place in Dubai this week if the deal is finalised. However, the reprised track is reportedly not intended to feature in the sequel itself, as its inclusion could create certification-related complications. The makers are reportedly considering using the track exclusively for social media promotions instead of featuring it in the film’s theatrical release. However, the collaboration is still awaiting approval from both parties at this stage. The development comes against the backdrop of the Hindi film industry largely refraining from collaborations with Pakistani artistes since the 2016 Uri terror attack. The stance was reiterated by industry bodies following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. Awarapan, released in 2007, remains popular for its emotional romance and chart-topping soundtrack, with Tera Mera Rishta among its most enduring songs. With Awarapan 2 now in the works, speculation has been rife about whether the sequel will revisit the original film’s musical legacy. If the collaboration goes through, Zahid’s return would mark one of the relatively rare instances in recent years of a Pakistani playback singer recording for a mainstream Hindi film project, even if the new version of the song does not make it into the final cut of Awarapan 2. The upcoming sequel features Emraan Hashmi in his role as Shivam Pandit, alongside Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, Aniruddh Rawal and Atul Kumar. The music has been composed by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Mallik and Akhil Sachdeva.Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film is slated for worldwide release on August 14.- EndsPublished By: Prachi aryaPublished On: Aug 7, 2026 09:19 IST
