Overseas Travel to the U.S. Has Fallen for Four Straight Months — Despite the World Cup

The travel industry had been banking on the World Cup to help turn around inbound tourism struggles. Instead, 14 of the 20 top overseas tourist-generating countries pulled back in July — including four countries that played in the U.S. that month. The latest government data on inbound tourism, released Thursday, shows a 7% decline in overseas visitation to just over 3 million in July.
