Over 67,000 diyas illuminate Satna across seven venues

SATNA: More than 60,000 earthen lamps were lit across seven locations in Satna on September 17 as part of the ‘Ek Diya, Seva Ke Naam’ programme organised by the Satna Municipal Corporation under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. Thousands of residents joined the citywide programme, lighting diyas at different venues in an initiative centred on public participation and community engagement.Venkatesh Lok, the main venue, was illuminated with 31,000 diyas. As evening set in, rows of lamps lit up the complex, which also featured rangoli artwork, themed installations and a special selfie point.The main programme was attended by Minister of State for Urban Housing and Development Pratima Bagri, MP Ganesh Singh, Urban Housing and Development Department Secretary B.S. Jamod, Collector Satish Kumar S., Superintendent of Police Hansraj Singh, BJP district president Pandit Bhagwati Prasad Pandey and Mayor Yogesh Kumar Tamrakar. Visitors also gathered at a special selfie point created around the ‘25 Years of Seva’ theme. Another installation presented the outlines of India, Madhya Pradesh and Satna, with diyas lit around their boundaries. After sunset, the three illuminated outlines stood out against the rows of lamps across the venue, visually connecting India to Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to Satna.The Satna Municipal Corporation arranged lighting, cleanliness, security, and other essential services across all seven venues. The illuminated outlines of India, Madhya Pradesh and Satna, framed by thousands of diyas, provided the defining visual of an evening that saw residents gather across seven venues in the city.
