Over 1,800 people missing in Yemen since July, Red Cross says

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that it received more than 1,800 missing persons reports in Yemen since the renewed fighting began in July. "The recent escalation of hostilities in Yemen has left countless families in anguish. Since July 2026, we have received over 1,800 tracing requests from families looking for missing loved ones," it said in a statement posted on X. "Families of the missing have the right to know the fate and whereabouts of their loved ones. Behind every missing person is a family living in anguish. Their pain cannot be ignored, and their wait must not be prolonged," said Christine Cipolla, head of ICRC's Yemen delegation.
