Outsourced workers of the Health Department from different parts of the State staging a protest opposing the State government’s move to withdraw the revised minimum wage, in Hassan on Tuesday (August 25). | Photo Credit: PRAKASH HASSAN The outsourced workers of the Health Department, from different parts of the State, gathered in Hassan on Tuesday (August 25) and staged a protest opposing the State government’s move to withdraw the revised minimum wage.Hundreds of workers joined the protest march in the city before assembling in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Along the march, they raised slogans urging the government to implement the minimum wage.The Labour Department, on May 22 this year, issued a notification revising the minimum wage, which had been a long-standing demand of the workers. In some districts, the outsourced workers were paid salaries at the revised rate. However, the Finance Department, on July 15, instructed the departments that the notification would be withdrawn.Terming the government’s move a betrayal, the protesters demanded that the government implement the notification issued and not withdraw it.Karnataka State Health Department Outsourced Workers’ Association State president Akshay D.M.
