Out on bail for wife's murder, Jaipur man hacks father to death

A Jaipur man killed his 75-year-old father with an axe after a family dispute, hid the body for nearly a day and was caught while trying to transport it in a taxi.Victim Jagdish and his wifeA man killed his 75-year-old father with an axe in Jaipur, around four months after the family members were released from jail on bail in a case involving the murder of their daughter-in-law.The accused, Sawai Ram Jat, attacked his father Jagdish with an axe following a family dispute. Police arrested Sawai Ram on charges of murder and also arrested his mother, Sajni, who was present at the spot.DCP Rajarshi Raj Verma said Jagdish lived with his wife and son. The incident took place on Thursday morning.According to police, Sawai Ram said his father frequently started arguments after consuming alcohol. The two had an argument on the night of August 18. The dispute escalated, following which Sawai Ram attacked his father with an axe, killing him. The accused then hid the body inside the house for nearly a day. When he could not find a place to dispose of it, he planned to take the body to Todaraisingh and cremate it there.On Thursday morning, Sawai Ram called a taxi and told the driver that his father had died. However, the driver noticed a foul smell coming from the body and became suspicious. He alerted the police. Police reached the spot and arrested Sawai Ram before he could take the body to a nearby vacant plot. During questioning, police uncovered the details of the murder.The investigation also revealed that the family had previously faced a murder case. In 2024, Jagdish, his wife and both their sons were accused of murdering their daughter-in-law. All four family members were jailed in that case.Jagdish’s elder son remains in jail.
