It’s arguably the best time to shop for affordable summer styles—more specifically, swim trunks—but there aren’t many beach days left. Yet I end up making the same decision, like clockwork: grab what I can now, and keep it stocked away for next year. I always end up getting a few more beach days in the books in September, anyway.Fair Harbor makes our all-time favorite swim trunks for men, the Bayberry Trunks, and they come out on top year in and year out in our annual trials. They’re supportive, super stretchy, and unbelievably comfy. They look pretty damn good, too. While they’re far from the most expensive swim trunks out there, they’re still a little pricey for some—$88, to be exact. Right around $50 is a lot more digestible, and that leads me to my next point: they’re just under $50 on Amazon right now. This liner is nonintrusive, and the shorts feel linerless. They’re so stretchy, you can probably even squat in them. I haven’t put this theory to the test—and probably never will—but this puts it into perspective.The liner material also plays a huge role. It’s made of a proprietary BreezeKnit fabric, a knit blend that’s softer and less scratchy than traditional mesh.
