Technically speaking, summer isn’t officially over until late September; we’re conditioned to follow the social construct of “school calendars.” Grilling steaks isn’t limited to just the summer, and a good one can take you well into winter. And one of our favorite grill/smoker combos just so happens to be on sale.Oklahoma Joe makes some of the best smokers on the biz, and one of our best-tested ones does a little bit of everything. The Laredo Deluxe is equal parts grill and smoker, and the perfect space-saving option for those itching for a classic smoker but might not have the requisite room. We love that it’s an old-school cooker in every sense of the word: It’s a traditional, no-frills smoker with a charcoal grill component that adds smoky flavor to your meats and veggies.You get an ample 916 sq. in. of cooking space (940 with the second rack), full heat control via the side air damper, and an even cook each and every time. There’s a large, lower front door that makes it easy to insert and adjust the charcoal while you’re smoking. It technically offers three charcoal positions to help set the charcoal to the correct temperature. You can set it to the highest position when you're grilling or to a low position for temperatures around 250 degrees Fahrenheit when smoking low and slow. This might be a little bit of a departure from some of the newer models out there, but the classic component is just as intuitive as anything you can adjust digitally.There are also three separate temperature-control options here: a side vent, a chimney, and a large front door, which allows you to go in and add or spread out charcoal during the smoking process.
