Orry says 'dark' 2021 phase involving Amrita Singh 'traumatised' him

Social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, has said a 2021 episode involving veteran actor Amrita Singh was one of the darkest phases of his life. In a recent interview, the 27-year-old said the experience left him deeply affected at the time and remains central to his fallout with Sara Ali Khan and her family.Speaking about the period, Orry said it had later made him more emotionally resilient and helped him deal with public scrutiny. He did not share details of what happened, but said the episode changed him personally and continues to shape his equation with Sara Ali Khan, her mother Amrita Singh and her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan.During a conversation with Pinkvilla, Orry was asked about a difficult phase that taught him mental strength. Recalling 2021, he said, "Back in 2021, Amrita Ali Khan traumatised me. It was a lot. It was a bit, I was like a bit, I don’t think I have been through something like this." Describing its impact, he added, "It was a very low dark time in my life, like she really put me through hell."He said people around him had told him the experience would eventually make him stronger, though he did not see it that way at the time. "When I moved and got out of it, people were like 'You will get through this stronger'. I was like ‘I don’t need that much strength.’ Like who needs that much strength in their life," he said. Looking back at that period, Orry said he later understood how much it had shaped his emotional resilience. "Then I realised nothing really affects me anymore." He added, "Like, nothing really makes me sad." He also said the trauma helped him deal with public scrutiny later on. "I think the trauma I went through then actually made me strong enough that when I became a public figure, the amount of hate I used to get initially never affected me," Orry said.According to Orry, even when people insulted him, he was able to handle the comments without letting them affect him emotionally. When asked to explain what had happened between him and Amrita Singh, he did not share details. He said, "Honestly, bad things happen to bad people. I am gonna leave it to that."Earlier remarks on Sara Ali Khan and her family Orry has previously made several social media posts that appeared to take digs at Sara Ali Khan. In one instance, he shared a reel asking, "Which are the worst names I know?" The next frame featured the names Amrita, Sara and Palak, seemingly referring to Amrita Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Palak Tiwari.Another reel in which he mentioned "3 worst names" was also interpreted as referring to Sara, Amrita and Palak. The post was later deleted after drawing criticism for seemingly targeting them.He had also reportedly posted unflattering pictures of Sara Ali Khan while wishing her on her birthday in August last year, which she allegedly did not appreciate. Sara has seemingly responded to some of Orry’s posts through her own social media activity. At one point, she reportedly shared the song Naam Chale by Vikram Sarkar, which was interpreted by some as a possible response to the exchanges online.In another interview with Hindustan Times, Orry said, "I unfollowed Sara a while ago.. and I haven’t followed Ibrahim in years." He added, "Pretending to be friends with Sara means pretending to be ok with the trauma her mother put me through and I just don't think I can do that anymore." He also said he would consider resolving the issue in future if Amrita Singh apologised.
