Orioles Make Four Waiver Claims; Leody Taveras Elects Free Agency

The Orioles announced a dizzying slew of roster moves ahead of the deadline to get 40-man rosters down to 40 players. Baltimore claimed right-hander Josh White off waivers from the Marlins and southpaw Philip Abner off waivers from the Mets. The O’s also claimed catcher Zach Morgan from the Giants and righty Chase Hampton from the Cardinals. Meanwhile, outfielder Leody Taveras cleared waivers and rejected an outright assignment, instead opting for free agency. Baltimore also confirmed its previously reported outright of former top prospect Heston Kjerstad, while adding that righty Yosver Zulueta and catcher Yohel Pozo were outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk. All of Kjerstad, Zulueta and Pozo can become minor league free agents. More to come. View Comments (0)
