As Oregon‘s struggles on offense continue, they are making a change. The Ducks have parted ways with offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Oregon lost 21-10 at Illinois on Saturday to fall to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play this season. The Ducks have not scored more than 17 points in three weeks now. Of course, they’ve been playing without starting quarterback Dante Moore, who is still out from the concussion he suffered in Week 4 against USC. Dylan Raiola and Brock Thomas have both had their fair share of struggles in his absence. Mehringer had been at Oregon since 2022. He previously served as co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach from 2022-2025 before taking over as Will Stein‘s replacement in 2026 after Stein became the head coach at Kentucky. Oregon released a statement on the decision on Sunday. Head coach Dan Lanning confirmed the move, and felt that it was in the best interest of the program moving forward. “Drew has been a valued member of this staff since 2022, and I am appreciative of everything he’s done for Oregon,” said Lanning. “He played a tremendous role in what this program has accomplished over the last several seasons. This was a decision I felt was in the best interest of our football program, as I believe a new direction is necessary to move our offense forward. I thank Drew for his efforts and wish him all the best.” Raiola has gotten the majority of work since Moore went down, as he’s completed 74 of his 114 pass attempts this season. He has 761 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. Thomas is 23 for 40 for 226 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Ducks have been dealing with a plethora of injuries and absences at wide receiver in recent weeks, which definitely hasn’t helped. Still, a move was made, and now there’s a new direction for the offense moving forward. It would take a big run for Oregon to make it to the College Football Playoff at this point with three losses already under their belt. Their next two games are against ranked opponents, at home against Northwestern in Week 9 before going on the road to take on Ohio State in Week 10. The Ducks are one of five teams tied for eighth in the Big Ten with a 2-2 league record.
