Opinion: Oregon is failing its children - and calling it ‘compassion’
Even as students are failing to show basic proficiency of fundamental skills, Oregon schools promote them to the next grade without the support or attention they need to be successful, writes Bonnie Lebenson, a teacher and public school parent. Instead of ignoring the gaps, the state should mandate interventions, tutoring and other changes to support students.
